Rotterdam Philharmonic

The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1918, it ranks among Europe’s foremost orchestras, being internationally known for the intense energy of its performances, its acclaimed recordings and its innovative audience approach. Under the conduct of Master Eduard Flipse, Jean Fournet and Edo de Waart, the orchestra rise to fame in the international arena. In 1995, the Russian conductor Valery Gergiev served as music director, and in 2008 was appointed honorary conductor. Since 2008, under the leadership of the new music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the orchestra has successfully held many tour shows, recording a large number of critically lauded recordings.In addition to the performance in Rotterdam's "base camp" Doelezaall, they often perform in many well-known theater all over the world. Orchestra's performance comprises two tours of Eastern Asia, plus concerts in such prestigious concert halls as the Vienna Musikverein and the Paris Théâtre des Champs-Elysées.Through a variety of concerts, teaching performances and community projects, the orchestra attracts nearly 200,000 viewers each year.


CONDUCTOR | David Afkham

Afkham was born in Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany) in 1983 and started his music education at age 15 at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, where he studied piano with James Avery. In 2002 he won the Jugend Musiziert competition. In 2007 he finished his conducting studies with Nicolás Pasquet at the Hochschule für Musik "Franz Liszt" in Weimar. In 2008 Afkham won the first prize of the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition and became the assistant conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, assisting Valery Gergiev. Since 2010 he is also the assistant conductor of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.

He has conducted the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester, Chicago Civic Orchestra,The Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Wiener Symphoniker, Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar, Bamberg Symphony, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and Staatskapelle Weimar, as well as assistant to Bernard Haitink with the Royal Concertgebouw and Chicago Symphony orchestras, assistant guest conductor of the Baden-Wurttemberg Youth Orchestra, and principal conductor of the KHG-Symphony-Orchestra Freiburg. He is a conducting fellow of the Richard Wagner Association in Bayreuth, Germany. Since 2014 he is the main conductor of the Orquesta Nacional de España (ONE).


VIOLIN | Ray Chen

Winner of the Queen Elisabeth (2009) and Yehudi Menuhin Competitions (2008), Ray Chen is among the most compelling young violinists today. “Ray has proven himself to be a very pure musician with great qualities such as a beautiful youthful tone, vitality and lightness. He has all the skills of a truly musical interpreter,” said the great Maxim Vengerov.

Ray has appeared with some of the leading orchestras around the world including the London Philharmonic, the National Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre National de France where he joined Daniele Gatti for the televised Bastille Day concert in Paris to an audience of over 800,000. In 2012 he became the youngest soloist ever to perform in the televised Nobel Prize Concert for the Nobel Laureates and the Swedish Royal Family. Other highlights include his 2016 debut at the BBC Proms where he appeared with the BBC Symphony at Royal Albert Hall in London.

Pre-sale & On sale

When tickets are on pre-sale,that means customers can pay for reservation only, and when tickets become on-sale, the physical tickets will be issued, and we will arrange the seats in a priority sequence of paying successfully. If there are any tickets left after that, customers can buy directly then.

For some big events, seat map cannot be issued when tickets are on pre-sale and since tickets quantity depends on organizers or venues, sometimes the reservation might be canceled, when that happens, we have to arrange refund work to those who have paid successfully. However, we will always try our best to satisfy our customers’ demand.

Can I choose a seat?

Usually, seat plan will be issued after tickets are on-sale. So when tickets are accepting reservation, customers can only pay for the tickets, and when tickets becomes on-sale, our staff will arrange the seats in a priority sequence of paying successfully.
If there is “buy on map” button, then you can choose the seat from the available seats.

Will my seats be together?

Usually, tickets purchased in one order will be seated together.

I live abroad, how can I buy and get my tickets? Can you deliver tickets to abroad?

For safety reasons, we now do not provide delivery to abroad service. We suggest customers choose “pick up by myself”when purchasing online, and then come to specified Damai branch to collect tickets before the show.

Can I ask my friend to collect tickets on behalf me?

Yes, but your friend is required to show the following documents:
1、Your passport and the credit card you use when purchase;
2、Your friend’s ID or passport.
3、Our staff will contact you to confirm again before hand over tickets.
